For all designers, creating a mood board is always the first step in the project. It is a visual tool for designers and business owners to put across their ideas for a brand’s identity.

What do you use it for?

Mood boards are used by designers in client’s branding projects. It definitely is a helpful tool that guides designers through many creative decisions moving forward and adds a clear sense of what the overall theme of a client’s brand identity is going for. Mood boards consist of a collage with color palettes, font typeface, illustrations and photography style. Sometimes it requires a few alterations, but once it’s perfectly aligned with a client’s vision, it helps the rest of the design process flow smoothly ensuring everything stays consistent.

How do you create one?

I personally like to create my mood boards using Photoshop, however you can use any design tool that works for you.
